Hibern is a mission-based alarm app for iOS. When your alarm rings, you must complete a wake-up mission — like scanning a QR code, taking a photo, or doing squats — to prove you're actually awake. It's designed to help you stop snoozing and build consistent morning habits.

Is Hibern free to use?

Yes! Hibern offers a free plan with up to 2 alarms, basic missions, basic sounds, and streak tracking. For unlimited alarms, advanced missions (like the Random Object Challenge), premium card styles, detailed statistics, and hard mode, you can upgrade to Hibern Plus.

What platforms does Hibern support?

Hibern is currently available on iOS (iPhone). We're considering Android and Apple Watch support for future releases based on user demand.

What are wake-up missions?

Missions are verification tasks you must complete to stop the alarm. They include scanning a QR code placed away from your bed, taking a photo of a specific object, doing physical exercises like squats, shaking your phone, solving math problems, or photographing a randomly selected object. Each mission is designed to ensure you're physically out of bed and alert.

Can I turn off the alarm without completing a mission?

Hibern is designed to make it difficult to dismiss the alarm without completing your mission. However, due to iOS limitations, third-party apps cannot fully prevent system-level interactions. We offer a "Hard Mode" (with Hibern Plus) that removes the snooze button to reduce the temptation. For best results, commit to the process — that's where the streak magic happens.

How does the Bathroom QR mission work?

Hibern generates a unique QR code that you can print or display on another device. Place it somewhere away from your bed — your bathroom, kitchen, or hallway. When the alarm rings, you'll need to scan that QR code with your phone's camera to complete the mission. This forces you to physically walk to another room.

What is the Random Object Challenge?

It's a premium mission where a random everyday object (like a toothbrush, mug, shoes, or towel) is selected through a fun roulette-style animation. You then need to photograph that specific object. Since you can't predict what will be selected, it keeps every morning fresh and interesting. Available with Hibern Plus.

How do I cancel my Hibern Plus subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Hibern Plus → Cancel Subscription. Your premium features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. We don't process cancellations directly — all billing is managed by Apple.

How do I request a refund?

Since payments are processed through Apple's App Store, refund requests need to be submitted through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and select the Hibern Plus purchase. Apple handles all refund decisions.

Does Hibern store my photos?

No. Photos taken for mission verification are processed entirely on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties. You can learn more in our Privacy Policy.

Why does Hibern need camera and motion permissions?

Camera access is used solely for QR code scanning and photo-based missions. Motion sensor access is used for shake, squats, and step-counting missions. Both are processed locally on your device. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your iPhone's Settings, but doing so may prevent certain missions from working.

Is Hibern available in French?

Yes! Hibern fully supports both English and French. The app defaults to your system language, and you can manually switch between languages in Settings. Réveille-toi. Prouve-le. 🐻‍❄️
